The Blair String Quartet includes Christian Teal, violin; Cornelia Heard, violin; John Kochanowski, viola; Felix Wang, cello. The Quartet performs Beethoven's gripping late work, Quartet in B Flat major, Op. 18, Mendelssohn's lyrical "Tempo con variazoni" for string quartet, Shostakovich's piece for string quartet from his opera Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District and his "Polka" from the Ballet, The Age of Gold. The program closes with Tchaikovsky's Quartet in D Major, Op. 11, a rousing end for an extraordinary concert. Sponsored by Delphine and Ken Roberts in memory of David K.
