Cottonwood Winter, the third novel in Nashville author Gary Slaughter's semi-autobiographical Cottonwood series, is an entertaining, richly-detailed reminiscence of home front America during the winter of 1944-45. This clever and amusing Christmas story interweaves the threat of an elite German espionage, the disappearance of B. R. Santa, and puzzling appearances of grape-vine Christmas wreaths all over town. These mysteries and more are solved by Jase Addison and Danny Tucker, the young heroes of the Cottonwood novels.
