Continuing in the tradition of expanding its opportunities to raise money for deserving charities, A Vintage Affair has added their new event: A Fashion Affair - "Vintage Halston Meets Vintage Wines." The evening will also include a live auction of a few marvelous items. Cocktail Attire. Featured in the runway show is the famous Halston collection of vintage gowns and garments. Lipscomb University has generously provided the collection for this event, and this will be Middle Tennessee's first opportunity to see the bulk of the collection on the runway. The Halston collection was donated to Lipscomb University's fashion merchandising department by president and CEO of the Borghese Co. of New York, Georgette Mosbacher, who has family ties to Nashville. The fashion merchandising department uses this collection to teach their fashion design students how fine fashions are conceived, designed on paper, presented as finished products on the runway, and brought to market. The American fashion designer Halston, whose clients included Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Elizabeth Taylor, Lucille Ball, and Princess Grace, changed the fashion industry with his minimalist style. He is particularly noted for the pillbox hat that Jacqueline Kennedy wore to her husband's inauguration, and for creating the fabric "Ultrasuede" that inspired his Ultrasuede shirtdress, which became one of the most popular dresses of the seventies. Proceeds will benefit the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Williamson Medical Center, the Williamson County Library Foundation and Williamson County Youth, Inc.
