Add Review/CommentThe Parthenon is pleased to present the paintings of Victoria Boone in the West Gallery. A Nashville artist, Boone has been working in the studio for thirty years and creates paintings filled with a fabricated, personal language of signs and symbols arranged within a grid paradigm. The origins of this body of work lie in Boone's teenage diaries, in which she substituted pictograms for characters in order to maintain secrecy. Boone has developed these symbols over the years and incorporates them into her current work. More recent inspiration has come from various philosophical and scientific theories, including string theory. Workshops investing this model of physics will accompany the exhibition, and a teacher packet, Introduction to String Theory, is available at www.parthenon.org. An opening reception will take place at the Parthenon on Friday, January 25 from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Sponsored by the Conservancy for the Parthenon and Centennial Park, this reception is free and open to the public.
