American Artisan Festival in the Park ... The best handcrafts in the Nation, right at your fingertips! For more than 30 years, American Artisan has brought an eclectic assortment of art and crafts from around the country to its one-of-a-kind shop in Nashville. This is the place to go for collector's items that are as beautiful, varied and unique as America itself. This remarkable craft gallery's collection is assembled with care and a genuine love for the various forms of art that come together here. Owner, Nancy Saturn, combs the country searching for the finest contemporary handcrafted collector's items. To date, she has hand-selected the works of more than 1400 craftspeople for her two-story, shopper-friendly store. The bright, contemporary decor of the American Artisan is creatively complemented with eye-catching collectibles throughout. It is like an ever-changing museum whose goal is to expose you to the great traditions of American handcrafts. The one important distinction is that at this museum, you can take the treasures home.

Even in the heat the craft's people spoke of their craft and took time telling me how they make their art. From the screened silks, boiled wool, to hand carved wood. The clay flute maker and the mandaline maker where great at letting you try their creations. You could tell they wanted you to learn, and the heart that they put into what they create. Truly made in the USA with pride. That's what the event left me felling like. Collapse

This a a marvelous show of some of the finest handcrafted items you can find. I have attended this festival in Centennial Park several times over the last 20 years and always discover something new. In fact, this is the place to find things you never even knew you needed! While some works are quite expensive, there's something interesting in every price range. You'll find fine works of pottery and glass, as well as art creations of metal and wood. The down side? It's outdoors and very hot in June. The best part? It's free! Collapse
