Bob McDill is recognized by peers, critics, and fans alike as a songwriter who acheived commercial success without sacrificing integrity. The Beaumont, Texas native moved to Nashville in 1970. Two years later, he recorded an album for Jack Clement's JMI Records. Soon, McDill began to focus on writing country songs for other artists, scoring his first success with Johhny Russell's "Catfish John" (1972) and "Rednecks, White Socks and Blue Ribbon Beer" (1973). He went on to pen a long list of country classics including "Amanda," "Good Ole Boys Like Me," "It Must be Love," "Baby's Got Her Blue Jeans On," "Everything That Glitters (Is Not Gold)," "Song of the South," "Don't Close Your Eyes," "She Don't Know She's Beautiful," "Gone Country," and many more.

McDill was elected to the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1985. For this program, the retired songwriter makes a rare public appearance to dicuss his career and perform briefly. After the program, he will sign autographs in the Museum Store.
