Film Screening: In the Hank Williams Tradition (1990)
Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum
March 30, 2008
"A country signer's role is an an interpreter. [The songs are] stories that people can relate to because the songs are about their lives. Hank Williams was one of the first to do it - and he did it best," explains Randy Travis in the documentary In the Hank Williams Tradition. In 1990, Travis and other country music artists gathered to create a film about the lasting influence of Hank Williams. The film also includes interviews with Roy Acuff, Chet Atkins, Emmylou Harris, Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson, Ricky Skaggs, Dwight Yoakam, and members of Hank's band, the Drifting Cowboys. Hank Williams, Jr. also shares memories from his childhood. From the Museum's Frist Library and Archive. Sixty minutes.

My wife and I were at the museum and caught this show. We did not know about it beforehand, so we were very pleasantly surprised when we walked into the room to see this great musician and music legend and his band. Many thanks to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum for a thrilling afternoon. Collapse
