    The CMT Music Awards will broadcast live on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 on CMT and CMT.com, honoring the best country music videos of the year. Country's biggest superstars will be on-hand to celebrate at the annual award show and its live red carpet pre-show. Scheduled to perform are Trace Adkins, Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley, Toby Keith, Lady Antebellum, Brad Paisley, Kellie Pickler, Rascal Flatts, Darius Rucker, Sugarland, Taylor Swift, Keith Urban and British rockers Def Leppard. Jason Michael Carroll, Carter Twins, Eric Church, Eli Young Band, Gloriana, Joey + Rory, Dancing With The Stars’ recent champions Shawn Johnson and Mark Ballas, and rap artist T-Pain. 

    Actor/comedian Bill Engvall will serve as the host for the awards show. Country stars Rodney Atkins, Billy Currington, Julianne Hough, Naomi Judd, Martina McBride, Lee Ann Womack and CMT’s Katie Cook and Lance Smith will serve as presenters. In addition, American Idol’s Randy Jackson, The O'Reilly Factor’s Bill O’Reilly, actor Luke Wilson, and rockers Kid Rock and Ted Nugent have also been tapped to present at the eighth-annual awards show.
     

    "We're always looking for a fresh approach to our Awards Show, and this year we've moved the telecast to June rather than April," says John Hamlin, executive producer and SVP of production and development, CMT. "The June airdate for The CMT Music Awards gives fans their first look at many of country music's biggest stars right before they hit the road for the summer concert season."

    The CMT Music Awards remains country music's only fan voted award show, and last year fans cast a record 5 million votes online to determine the night's big winners. Since its premiere, the 23 airings of the 2008 CMT Music Awards were seen by 32.7 million different total viewers.
