KT Tunstall at the Ryman
May 20, 2008
Three years ago, KT Tunstall stepped out the front door of her flat in Harlesden, north-west London. She was off to work, and to play. She didn't get to go home again until she'd recorded debut album Eye To The Telescope, wowed the nation with her one-woman blues-stomp "Black Horse And The Cherry Tree," toured the world a few times, outsold every other female artist in the UK in 2005, won a Brit Award for Best British Female Solo Artist, landed a Grammy nomination for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, lent her tunes to choice American films and TV shows ("Suddenly I See" was used in the opening scene of Meryl Streep flick The Devil Wears Prada), signed up for the GlobalCool campaign, which took her to Tony Blair's house in attempts to put pressure on the government to reduce carbon emissions, and sold almost four million copies of Eye To The Telescope, including over 1.5 million in the UK alone and over 1 million in America. Now the 31-year-old Scotswoman known to her family as Kate returns to the Ryman.

I went to the show, and immediately after the first few songs, was asking my date where Ray would be playing during his next concert, so to make plans to go see him again. It was just the beginning of the show and I just couldn't get enough of the beautiful music and lyrics. Ray's music is so humble and honest. And that voice is something you should experience live. I'm pretty much a big fan and you should be too. I've not been to many shows at the Ryman, but for the price, you get more than what you pay for and the sound and lighting is amazing as well! "Vince was great"
Review posted by: S. McDowell from Nashville, Tenn, Jul 12, 2008
This was the best show I have ever had the pleasure to attend. The music was awesome and Vince was so down to earth and humble. He had the best group of players with him. It was just great!

I have a lot of respect for Eddie Izzard, his insights and comedy are fun and not the typical stand up. He is a brave guy. Last night in Nashville he was mediocre. He is adorable to look at, but he seemed to resent the fact he was there, and it was clear he was laughing at us. I also was surprised at how loyal his audience was to him thru the whole thing. I would like to see him in NYC, bet he brings his A game there. Collapse
