Special Engagement: Haywood Banks
March 25, 2008
Zanies 25th Anniversary Celebration continues with the legendary Haywood Banks. Heywood Banks' act is not the normal stand-up routine--far from it. Heywood is simply one-of-a-kind, almost impossible to describe. Dressed in a plaid jacket and wearing dark-rimmed glasses, Heywood's style is his very own. Equal parts genius and buffoon, this songwriter-comic-singer-poet-musician has become a cult hero and a pop icon, with a show that appeals to college students, stoners, businessmen, yuppies, rednecks, punks, kids or your grandmother. Heywood intersperses his humorous observations of life with twisted, inventive, bizarre songs, sung and played in a variety of styles, from folk, to country to rock to pop, and way beyond.

This is a show you can watch over and over again. Funny from the start to the finish. I'd never seen a hypnotist show before and I was blown away. I hung around to chat to the volunteers after the show and there was no way they were leaving without buying a DVD of the evening's show. I've heard he is going to play at Zanies for the rest of the week. I will be calling friends and going again. I can't remember laughing so hard! Collapse
