Animal Affair 2008: “Swingin’” is Oct. 4. At this not-so-black-tie event, guests opt for zebra stripes and leopard print over pinstripes and penguin suits as they enjoy the beauty of the Zoo at twilight. Animal Affair is Nashville Zoo’s largest fundraiser, and this year’s event celebrates the grand re-opening of the Zoo’s recently restored Jungle Gym.

Guests will stroll through the Zoo, discovering tasty samplings from area restaurants, caterers and beverage purveyors. Live music will fill the air, and special animal ambassadors will welcome guests to an evening of swinging gibbons, swing dancers and an all-around swinging good time. Patron-level supporters of Animal Affair attend a pre-party at the African Elephant Savannah where they will meet some unusual animal friends, courtesy of Jack Hanna and the Columbus Zoo.

All proceeds from Animal Affair benefit Nashville Zoo and help fund education programs, animal care, park maintenance and more. Animal Affair is open to adults 21 years or older. Animal Affair 2008 is presented by First Tennessee and supported by Diversified Trust, Sunrise Contracting, Classic Party Rentals, Frugal MacDoogal, Lipman Brothers, Nashville Scene, nFocus, Phillips Printing, Taste of the Wild at Nashville Zoo, Graffiti Indoor Advertising, Comcast and Lightning 100.
