The Love Drums, a tribal percussion dance band led by Nashville percussionist/teacher/drum circle facilitator Ed Haggard, will celebrate The Love Drums 51st Community Drum and Dance WhizBang at the First Unitarian Universalist Church, 1808 Woodmont Blvd. The event will feature performances by Haggard and seven percussionists with The Love Drums; a facilitated open drum circle; and special dances such as the Women's Dance, the Men's Dance, and the Scarf Dance. The evening also will include a festive parade of drummers and dancers. Attendees will enjoy an exhibition of arts and crafts, jewelry, tie dye clothing, and angel light candles by Ayesha Nur.

The Love Drums are inspired by West African drum and dance traditions, Middle Eastern music for belly dance, as well as Latin and Brazilian styles. Haggard started The Love Drums Community Drum and Dance WhizBang at Nashville's Bean Central in 2000 after watching a stirring performance of three Ghanan drummers in Victoria, British Columbia. The event, the only percussion/dance event of its kind in Nashville, now occurs the first Saturday of each month at the Unitarian Universalist Church.
