Sponsored by Metro Parks and Recreation and Friends of Metro Dance, Coppélia is the story of Dr. Coppélius, a toymaker and magician, and his fascination with his favorite doll, Coppélia. The young people from his village, led by Swanhilda and Franz, trick the elderly toymaker into believing that Coppélia has come to life. Dancing dolls, colorful costumes, romance, and old world fantasy make this short ballet a treat for children and adults alike. In addition to Coppelia, the young dancers will perform Entwined, a contemporary ballet choreographed by Barry Gager. Performances will be held at the Z. Alexander Looby Theater.
