HA Gallery at Hanging Around will celebrate its grand re-opening and sixth anniversary with Persona of the Hat, an exhibition featuring hat-inspired artworks by a dozen Nashville visual artists. The exhibition will begin on May 16 (Friday) with a reception from 6:00pm-9:00pm. The exhibition will continue through June 13.

Creating special works for the celebration are painter Margot Baeder, sculptor Nancy Hall, painter Bettye Harwell, mixed media artist Toni Dranes Hooper, sculptor Karla Kirkland, painter James Mooneyhan, painter Lori Putnam, and others. Nashville wine divas and radio personalities The Saucy Sisters (Barbara Nowak and Beverly Wichman) will offer antic-filled advice on how to pair men's and women's hats with fine wines. Attendees are encouraged to wear hats to the event. To prepare for the show, participating artists visited the gallery to select hats in a variety of styles. The hats, which date back to the 1930s, were placed in storage after George's Hatters closed on Fourth Avenue in 1974. 

HA Gallery opened its new gallery and framing design studio on Eighth Avenue South in late March. New operating hours are 10:00am-5:00pm Monday-Friday and 10:00am-3:00pm on Saturday. Other visits are available by appointment.
