Frist Fridays: The Dynamites featuring Charles Walker
Frist Center for the Visual Arts
October 31, 2008
Now in its sixth year, Frist Fridays has quickly become a Nashville tradition, attracting visitors of all ages from Middle Tennessee and the region. Patrons can enjoy an evening of live music, food and beverages in the Turner Courtyard and visit the diverse exhibitions on view in the Frist Center’s galleries. Live entertainment for October 31 will be The Dynamites featuring Charles Walker!
Described by the New York Times as "old-school music that works up a genuine sweat," The Dynamites bring their funk and soulful sounds to close the Frist Fridays season. Their vintage-style songs conjure the sound of James Brown with hints of Memphis, Motown and New Orleans, too. Fronted by authentic soul man Charlie Walker, their live performance is anchored with a bustling rhythm section featuring a solid horn section.
Frist Fridays Sponsors include: Presenting Sponsor: Fifth Third Bank; Contributing Sponsors: Bridgestone, Glaceau Vitamin Water and Southwest Airlines; Media Sponsors: Lightning 100 and Nashville Scene.

I knew The Dirt Drifters were great amped up--I learned they sound as good or better when they go acoustic! The Frist is just wonderful!

"Great exhibit!"

Color As Field was great. I am delighted the Frist Center brought this exhibit to Nashville! Lots of large canvases with bright colors! Don't let this exhibit leave without seeing it!

Enjoyed the show and the gallery was busy Friday afternoon. Get an audio cassette for $5 and go before the rush at the end of May.
