Rock ‘n’ roll historian Barry Drake will examine the relationship of rock music to the events of the 70s: Watergate, Nixon’s resignation, the Vietnam War and the Kent State tragedy. The 1960s were over, but were they really? As the '70s began, the Vietnam War, the draft and Richard Nixon were still with us and so was some of the best rock music ever made. Drake will examine one of the most confusing, misunderstood and criticized decades in rock 'n' roll history.

Barry Drake graduated from Manhattan College in Riverdale, N.Y. and became a performer and songwriter in 1965, playing alongside legends such as Van Morrison, Joni Mitchell, Jimi Hendrix, Emmylou Harris, Loudon Wainwright III, Richie Havens and James Taylor. Drake has often been called a walking encyclopedia of rock 'n' roll and has lectured on the topic since 1984.
