Scott Reall discusses and signs The Journey to Freedom Series
July 22, 2008
A small but mighty program that started in a meeting room at a YMCA right here in Nashville has exploded to become one of the most talked-about resources available to break the life-controlling issues we all face. Be it fear, loneliness, shame, addiction, grief or the many other emotional or physical strong-holds, Journey to Freedom has helped guide thousands of men, women and families to complete hope, healing and restoration.

With the exception of John Gardner's Grendel, I now have a new favorite re-telling of the Beowulf story. Ashley Crownover's Wealtheow: Her Telling of Beowulf avoids the pitfalls of the women's-retelling subgenre, and enriches the Beowulf mythos in ways that writers have failed to do since Gardner. Wealtheow: Her Telling of Beowulf is surprisingly good for a debut novel. I recommend it. Collapse

Del Staecker is a new writer on the mystery novel scene. I expect to see him follow in the steps of his fellow Citadel Graduate: Pat Conroy. The school has produced some outstanding writers and Del is now one of them. You will see movies being made from his books. Expect to see the cameras in Nashville for his new book "Shaved Ice," when it will undoubtedly be made into a movie. Show up at the reading and be one of those who can say: I saw him when. Collapse
