How Blak Kin Eye Bee, the highly-acclaimed, tell-it-like-is one-man show that has had audiences across the country laughing, crying and thinking about "blackness" returns to Music City for a one-night only encore at The Belcourt Theatre. The two-act play that takes a clever look at self-identity and purpose. Headlined by Nashville native, actor, playwright and broadcast commentator jeff obafemi carr, the production presents the diverse sides of black America while also touching on thought-provoking topics such as poverty, politics, social status, race and religion. During its 2001 premiere, How Blak packed the Fisk University Chapel and its return visit in 2003 saw further success with hundreds flocking to the historic Ryman Auditorium. How Blak has become one of the most talked about one-man shows in recent years. For the last five years, the show has toured the country generating standing-only crowds in states like Texas, Arizona, Illinois, Indiana and Missouri. This memorable play explores what it means to be African American as portrayed by seven unique characters in two acts.the barber, the pass-tah (pastor), the nerdy professor, the black act-tore (actor), Big Mama (an elderly woman), Jessie D. Blues (the crazy guy), and a mysterious character, who is somewhat a prophet.
