Removing fear from the arsenal of child raising presents a challenge when children talk back and do not immediately obey. Dr. Wolf's lecture describes a new way of looking at child behavior. He uses specific examples to describe what are productive and non-productive ways of dealing with children when parents are going against children's wants: saying "no," getting them to stop undesirable behavior, and getting them to do what they do not feel like doing. Lastly, the lecture explores what plays out day to day in dealing with many typical problem situations.

Dr. Anthony Wolf is a practicing clinical psychologist, best-selling author and father of two. He received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the City University of New York and completed his undergraduate work at Columbia College. For the past 25 years he has been in private practice seeing children and adolescents in the Springfield, Massachusetts area.

Dr. Wolf has written several books, including “Get Out of My Life, but First Could You Drive Cheryl and Me to the Mall?” and “The Secret of Parenting, How to be in Charge of Today's Kids - from Toddlers to Preteens - Without Threat or Punishment.” He is also a frequent contributor to parenting magazines and has appeared on many television shows including "Today" and "The View."

The lecture series is made possible by the Edna S. Thomas Fund of The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, established in 2000 by Thomas’ daughter, Judy Lewis, as a tribute to her mother’s outstanding parenting skills. The Fund endows the annual lecture series to provide tools for parents and educators to raise healthy children.
