Shakespeare's Case
May 29-May 30, 2009
Add Review/Comment
Shakespeare’s Case is a new play developed for the The Nashville Shakespeare Festival’s educational outreach. This one-hour production puts Shakespeare’s relevance on trial, with William Shakespeare himself appearing to argue his defense. Drawing scripts, props, and costumes out of his traveling case, Shakespeare pleads his case using his theatrical skill and magic to convince the jury that he is innocent of being boring, confusing, and irrelevant.
Shakespeare’s Case will be a humorous and informative introduction to Shakespeare's works for all ages as well as a delight for those who already love the Bard. Through this sixty-minute performance, Shakespeare re-emerges as not only relevant in the twenty-first century, but integral to our culture. Through your support, we hope you will join us in educating your community about an artist whose mind and spirit so greatly influenced the history of our civilization and continues to inspire and inform us to this day.
The World Premiere Party and Private Performance is ONLY $100 on Friday, May 29. This contribution will help us keep Shakespeare in the Park “priceless” and support the continued growth of our education programming. The evening includes:
6:30pm - Walk the CMT Red Carpet and have your photo taken with William Shakespeare; Hors d’oeuvres from Whole Foods Market, cold drinks from VitaminWater10 & live music from Randy Lancaster
7:15pm - Juggling by Playing By Air
7:30pm - World Premiere of Shakespeare’s Case
8:30pm - Door prize drawing of a family package including: 10 tickets to The Frist Center for the Visual Arts, a year’s membership at The Belcourt Theatre, 4 passes to the Nashville Zoo and a one year Family Membership to Cheekwood!
8:45pm - Desserts and teas provided by PM and ChaChah Restaurant; Meet-and-Greet with the cast and creative team
In addition, there will be two public performances on Saturday, May 30 at 2:30pm and 7:30pm. Ticket prices are $15/Adult, $14/Senior, $8/Student.
