Come to the fifth annual International Migratory Bird Day (IMBD) celebration that highlights the importance of birds in the world’s cultures. Guests can fly through several educational stations to discover how birds have influenced music, storytelling and poetry in various cultures. Several activity stations will be set up also, including a “Bird Hurdles” obstacle course that lets visitors dodge the dangers migratory birds face. Along the migration route will be egg and feather displays, keeper talks and trivia at various bird exhibits, and an origami crane project. The Zoo’s amphitheater will host bird shows at 11:00am, 1:30pm and 3:30pm with a special story time before each show.

A coalition of bird-minded organizations founded IMBD in 1993 after recognizing the need for a unified focus on the conservation of migratory birds. Zoos across the country celebrate IMBD, raising awareness for the nearly 350 species that travel between nesting habitats and non-breeding habitats each year.
