Former Nashville Mayor and downtown advocate Richard Fulton will be honored during The DISTRICT’s 22nd Annual Progressive Party with the first Spirit of The DISTRICT Award. Set for Thursday, October 9, the event will officially kickoff beginning at 5:30pm at Cellar One/Riverfront Courtyard (170 2nd Avenue North), followed by three progression locations downtown. The 2008 theme is “Rollin’ on the River.”

“This year we are thrilled to recognize Mayor Fulton for his leadership and vision for downtown,” said Terry Clements, chairman, The DISTRICT. “There is no better recipient for the first Spirit of The DISTRICT Award than Mayor Fulton. The Annual Progressive Party is a great way to celebrate downtown, provide a unique experience for event attendees and it benefits a great cause,” said Clements.

The event includes parking, food, beverages, musical entertainment, Nashville’s Jugg Sisters and a Fireworks Show downtown in honor of Mayor Fulton. A silent auction featuring unique items and special packages will be held to raise funds supporting The DISTRICT’s downtown holiday decorations. This is a 21 and over event and tickets are limited. Event sponsors include Grubb & Ellis|Centennial, Pinnacle Financial Partners, Tower Investments and Roy T. Goodwin Contractors. Lansden Hill Pyro-Shows will provide the Fireworks.

The DISTRICT is a private 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to economic and community revitalization of three historic districts and their contiguous areas in downtown Nashville; Broadway, 2nd Avenue/Riverfront, and Printer’s Alley, collectively known as The DISTRICT.
