Explore the history and culture of the Jewish experience through movies, special events, panel discussions and interesting guest speakers. Tonight's feature is Strangers, Winner, Grand Jury Prize, World Cinema Competition, 2008 Sundance Film Festival. Israel 2007, 85 minutes, in English, Hebrew, French and Arabic with English subtitles, Directors/Screenwriters: Erez Tadmor, Guy Nattiv, Featuring Liron Levo, Lubna Azabal, Abdaliah El Akal, Birol Ünel, Partick Albenque, Dominique Loilia.

When an Israeli man and a Palestinian woman fall in love during the 2006 World Cup finals in Berlin, star-crossed complications ensue. Handsome Eyal (Liron Levo) and knockout Rana (Lubna Azabal) are seated across from each other on the subway. Their backpacks get mixed up, leading to a chance meeting, and they are immediately swept up in the dual frenzies of soccer mania and desire. As these two people get to know each other, they discover a bond that refuses to dissipate. Their relationship is tested by their differing cultures, opinions on the situation in their homelands, and their allegiances to friends. Innovatively filmed, with terrific performances by the two leads, Strangers is a top-notch love story that crosses international borders and explores the boundaries of nationality, culture and the heart.
