St. Louis's own, Alvin Jett & the Phat Noiz, are scheduled to perform at Bourbon Street Blues & Boogie Bar. This four-piece band has made a name for themselves with their fiery brand of in-your-face, hard driving blues music. The band's original material reveals roots in rock, funk, R&B, soul, and at times, hints of gospel and rockabilly. The band has worked hard to craft a signature sound that transforms easily from high-energy rock to soulful blues ballads. As Jim DeKoster of Living Blues Magazine wrote, "Alvin Jett himself proves to be a potent singer and guitarist in the post-Albert King style." Give credit to Jett and his band for giving their blues a fresh sound. When not on the road performing at one of their 200+ annual shows, Alvin Jett & the Phat Noiz reside in St. Louis, Missouri. The band is a veteran of the International Blues Challenge (IBC), and in 2007, received the Independent Music Award for Best Blues Song with their composition "Angels Sing the Blues" from Milk & Cookies, their 2006 release. Alvin Jett & the Phat Noiz were also finalists in the 2006 IBC, and their 2005 release, "Wet My Beak", was in the final four for Best Self-Released CD. The band's latest CD, How Long (2008), is their first album released outside of the United States. Compiled and released by Belgian record label Blues Boulevard, the recording features songs from the band's first two albums along with new artwork and liner notes. It is currently available throughout Europe and the U.S.
