Springer Mountain Farms presents Bluegrass Nights at the Ryman with Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder
July 2, 2009
Springer Mountain Farms presents Bluegrass Nights at the Ryman featuring the legendary Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder including Andy Leftwich (fiddle), Cody Kilby (lead guitar), Mark Fain (bass), Paul Brewster (tenor vocals, rhythm guitar) and Jim Mills (banjo).
Experience the best in bluegrass on the very stage where bluegrass was born over 60 years ago. The Ryman Auditorium, the Mother Church Of Country Music and the home of the Grand Ole Opry from 1943 to 1974, is sacred to the history of country music. Especially important to the history of the Ryman is its significant role in the history of bluegrass music. Although Bill Monroe had been a member of the Grand Ole Opry since 1939, it wasn't until a Saturday night in December of 1945 when bluegrass music as we know it today was born when a twenty-one year old young man by the name of Earl Scruggs stepped up to the WSM microphone on the Ryman stage playing the five-string banjo with a three-finger roll. This was the final ingredient in what we now know as bluegrass music.

Dailey & Vincent is amazing! They are the total package. I catch their show every time that they are in Nashville. Get your tickets early, last year was nearly sold out.

I am a country music fan but did not know much about Patsy Cline's story. After seeing this show, I walked out with a deep appreciation for her music and for the incredible talents of Mandy Barnett (her voice is AMAZING) and Tere Myers (energetic and hilarious)! If you live in Nashville (or are visiting) and have a chance to see this show before it closes on May 23, you will not be disappointed! Collapse

We spent a few days in Nashville and heard from several local folks that this was the show to see. So, we found time in our busy itinerary and purchased ticktes. Wow, what an incredible performance. The vocals were beyond any I have heard and the content of the story was fabulous. It was humorus, heartwarming and moving. I would recommend this to anyone. If we would have had time, we would have gone to see this show again before we left Nashville. Collapse

This was a great night of worship from some great performers. Lenny LeBlanc was stellar. The band was great too. I saw cameras recording this. I hope they put it out soon.

Last night's Bryan Adams solo acoustic show was simply outstanding. I'd seen him a couple of times in the 1980's, with Journey as he joked in the show, but this was by far his best performance. Done in a sort of "Bluebird Cafe" style where he would tell the story of how the song was written and why, then delivered with all the soul of a truely gifted songwriter. It's simply amazing what one performer, a guitar and a well written song can do to move you. It's the greatest art there is and Bryan is certainly one of the masters. Just ask Martina McBride. She was there to enjoy Bryan's show and it didn't take Bryan long to spot her and pull her up on stage to sing "It's only Love" in place of the great Tina Turner. It was a musical moment I will never forget! Bryan was also witty, a great story teller and could even handle the heckler/admirers with class. I often reflect on how lucky I am to live in Nashville and enjoy music at the Ryman and this show was a perfect example. Collapse

I enjoyed the show last night and think that Steve, Chris, Alan and the kids put on a good show. My apologies to Jon Anderson, but if you closed your eyes you couldn't tell the difference. While Steve and Chris are showing their age, in more ways than one, if I'm doing things half as well at that age I'll be happy. It was a great evening and I could have listened to them for much longer. Collapse

All I can say, if you can make it to one of kd's performance, you will not be sorry. The range of her voice is unbelievable. The band is so very talented and her sense of humor is so FUNNY.

I went to the show, and immediately after the first few songs, was asking my date where Ray would be playing during his next concert, so to make plans to go see him again. It was just the beginning of the show and I just couldn't get enough of the beautiful music and lyrics. Ray's music is so humble and honest. And that voice is something you should experience live. I'm pretty much a big fan and you should be too. I've not been to many shows at the Ryman, but for the price, you get more than what you pay for and the sound and lighting is amazing as well! Being at the Ryman and hearing Boz Scaggs was fantasic. There are not many singers around today who are as orginal and sound as great as the one and only Boz. He put on a great show and his voice was smooth as ever. I only wish he would have done We're All Along and Break Down Dead Ahead. My husband and I dated and fell in love to his music more then 20 years ago and it was a great experience to see him preform live. We drove 6 hours to catch his show and it was even better then I thought it would be. I only wish we could have met him. I hope to catch him when he comes around again. Collapse
