Jazz on the Move: The Life and Music of Billie Holiday, with Connye Florance

The Nashville Jazz Workshop and the Frist Center for the Visual Arts announce the return of last year's popular jazz performance and education series, Jazz on the Move. Each program in the series focuses on a significant jazz style, artist or period in jazz history. The format is a combination lecture and performance, presented by some of Nashville's top jazz artist/educators.
The programs take place on a series of Sunday afternoons. All performances are at 3:00 p.m. in the auditorium at the Frist Center.

This series is made possible by an Arts Builds Communities (ABC) grant from the Metropolitan Nashville Arts Commission in cooperation with the Tennessee Arts Commission. All performances in the series are free and open to the public.

The March Jazz on the Move series will feature The Life and Music of Billie Holiday, with Connye Florance. Billie Holliday was one of the great vocalists in jazz, with a distinctive style and voice that has no equal. Vocalist, educator, and actress Connye Florance will lead a performance and discussion that will provide insight into the music and life of this legendary jazz artist.
