Ken White Exhibit

Artist Ken White has worn many hats throughout his artistic career, including graphic designer, firm owner, illustrator and fine arts painter. After attending the University of East Tennessee, the Art Center College of Design and the Chouinard Art Institute, White taught graphic design at UCLA and Otis Art Institute of Parsons School of Design in Los Angeles. Although a fervent painter, White also works in such media as oil, pastels, charcoals and various mixed media techniques in order to approach his subjects intuitively and emotionally rather than purely intellectually. While much of his highly realistic work focusing on nature is created outdoors, a style known as "plein-air," White also does much of his work in his studio. Besides the natural settings, he has worked in portraiture and most currently with themes of spirituality. These paintings become more abstract with their depth being heightened, creating scenes of tranquility and chaos in the same canvas.

Note: This exhibition is in the Visual Arts Gallery. A free opening reception will be held on March 27.
