Kristina Arnold received a degree in community health from Brown University. While there she took courses at Brown's sister school, the Rhode Island School of Design. Upon graduation, Arnold moved to Nashville to pursue a career in public health. But after four years she shifted gears and decided to go to art school, earning her Master of Fine Arts degree in Painting from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Even though Arnold lives the life of a professional artist now, her science background is never far behind. Arnold's more current sculptural installations have dealt with issues of femininity and motherhood by using found objects such as cups, floor mats and tons of pink crocheting. Recently, she has become concerned with the insustainability of suburbia. In her installation planned for the North Wing Gallery, Arnold will create kudzu vines throughout the space from recycled materials such as grocery bags, cardboard and bottles, which hang through the space. The artist wants the work to be interacted with and explored. The installation will be beautiful and alluring but in the end is still only a representation of the nature destroyed in the name of progress.

Note: This exhibition is in the North Wing Gallery. A free opening reception will be held on March 27.
