Nelson Andrews will be honored at the 16th annual Nashvillian of the Year Celebration on the evening of June 18, 2009 at the Hilton Nashville Downtown benefiting Easter Seals Tennessee. Nelson Andrews is the founder and Chairman of the Board of Brookside Properties, one of the most successful real estate firms in the Southeast. His leadership and investment capital have been instrumental in Brookside’s acquisitions and management of a wide array of multi-family, commercial, and real estate assets throughout the country. Mr. Andrews was the founding President of the Nashville Better Business Bureau, Leadership Nashville, The Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital, and the Canby Robinson Society of the Vanderbilt Medical Center. He has chaired the Tennessee Tax Structure Study Commission, Blue Cross-Blue Shield of Tennessee, and the Tennessee Board of Education. His is immediate past chairman of the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee and serves on the Boards of the middle Tennessee YMCA, The Frist Center for the Visual Arts, Montgomery Bell Academy, Country Music Foundation, Habitat for Humanity, Lipscomb University, as well as numerous other education, business and community boards. His philanthropic contributions to our community and state are unparalleled. Nelson Andrews has had a hand in shaping the past, present and future of Nashville. He is married to the former Sue Adams and has five children and 21 grandchildren.

The recipients of the Nashvillian of the Year Award are chosen with consideration of a number of criteria, including individual contributions to the community, philanthropic causes, and business development. The award is symbolic of a generous contributor to our community and a leader who is working to ensure that Nashville continues to be a better place to live, work, prosper and enjoy life.
