Buffalo Soldier: Sgt. George Jordan
February 14, 2009
Add Review/Comment
This one-man show, written and directed by Cedric Liqueur, was inspired by African-American solider Sgt. George Jordan (1847-1904) who earned America's highest military decoration—the Medal of Honor— in the late 19th century for his actions in the Indian Wars of the western United States. Incorporating the words of Alice Walker, Tupac Shakur, Nelson Mandela, Frederick Douglass, Malcolm X, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and Paul Lawrence Dunbar, as well as slave songs and narratives, the performance brings the bravery and valor of “Buffalo Soliders” of the U.S. Army to life.
