Acclaimed writer, Jo Neace Krause, will be present to sign copies of her award-winning book The Last Game We Played in the Virtually Unlimited Bookstore at the Renaissance Center on February 20th, 2009.
Krause was born in Breathitt County, Kentucky and currently resides on the Duck River in Nunnelly, Tennessee. She has been writing short stories and poetry since she was a child even winning a creative writing scholarship to Ohio State University.
When only 25 years old Krause published her first work in the celebrated Yale Review and now at age 65 she has won the prestigious Hudson Prize for her collection of short stories titled The Last Game We Played. This award is presented to an author for his or her first published collection of poetry or fiction.
The Last Game We Played is a collection of twelve short stories all based on real life events. Many of the stories have a southern quality about them and have gained Krause attention from such noted writers as Joyce Carol Oates.
Krause credits her success to her daily writing practice and finds balance through the creative process of painting. Many of Krause’s paintings are on display at the Kentucky Folk Art Center in Morehead, Kentucky, various fine art galleries and even on the cover of this book.
