Take action to raise awareness and funds for the growing number of children and orphans affected by the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Global Strategies for HIV Prevention is working with local partners in Monrovia, Liberia to create a farming and production facility for a fortified peanut butter product for severely malnourished children, many of whom are orphaned and HIV-infected. The project will be performed in cooperation with Sisters of Charity and St. Joseph's Hospital, two organizations that care for orphans and vulnerable children. Funds from Hope Walks would be used to buy the necessary equipment and ingredients, begin the process of farming local peanuts, and training teenage boys to make and distribute the product as part of their vocational training skills. The project will provide life saving nutritional supplements for severely malnourished children while at the same time serving to train youth in business, agriculture and development skills. Participants in the walk are provided with education about the global orphan crisis and given an opportunity to raise funds through a walk with other attendees and community members. Come walk with us!
