Add Review/CommentDoris Kearns Goodwin, Pulitzer Prize-winning author and acclaimed presidential historian, will host a free public lecture at the downtown branch of the Nashville Public Library. Goodwin, who has authored books such as No Ordinary Time: Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt: The Home Front in World War II, Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln, and Wait Till Next Year: A Memoir, has written numerous articles on politics and baseball for leading national publications. She also appears frequently on NBS, MSNBC and Meet the Press as a presidential historian and political news analyst and has recently appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. A passionate baseball fan, Goodwin also had the esteemed honor of being the first female journalist allowed in the Boston Red Sox locker room.
Among her many award-winning publications, Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln was winner of the prestigious Lincoln Prize, winner of the inaugural Book Prize for American History, a 2006 National Book Critics Circle Award Finalist and a New York Times bestseller. “A brilliantly conceived and well-written tour de force of a historical narrative,” wrote the reviewer for the Boston Globe. Steven Spielberg acquired the rights to the book and is developing a feature film based on it, with Liam Neeson to star as Lincoln.
