An explosion of color splashes across the six panels of this 7 foot tall mural illustrating the theme "Community Art for the Heart and Soul: Building Positive Understanding between Cultures". The mural is sponsored by the Creative Arts Project of the Middle Tennessee Mental Health and Substance Abuse Coalition. The Creative Arts Project provides resources and supports creative expression in over 150 talented artists who live with mental illness and substance abuse disorders in Middle Tennessee. This mural was painted in 2008 by Nashville artists and students from the University of Florida and Florida State University at Gainesville. Under the direction of Nashville artist Michael J. McBride, they formed a community to express positive ways that art plays a part in their everyday lives.

The mural project was carried out under an Arts Build Communities grant funded by the Tennessee General Assembly and administered in cooperation with the Tennessee Arts Commission and Metropolitan Nashville Arts Commission. Other funding partners: AmeriChoice, Centerstone, The Memorial Foundation, Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities, Frist Foundation, and Bristol-Myers Squibb.
