Company Rose Contemporary Dance is pleased to announce its debut performance, A Place A Part, at the Neuhoff Center on Friday, May 8, 2009. The dance explores images of restriction and expansion within a metal crinoline gown. Historically, the crinoline was made of a watch-spring wire that prohibited a woman from sitting comfortably or passing through constraining spaces. Yet, it also created for her a space apart: it was impossible to come any closer to her than the ornamented architecture of the dress allowed.
