As a special bonus to this impressive season, Nashville Ballet will present Emergence: The Studio Series, at the Nashville Ballet Martin Center for Dance November 13 and 14 at 7:30 pm. A fresh take on Nashville Ballet’s previously successful Emergence performances, the innovative new Emergence: The Studio Series allows audience members to select a “dance list” of performances to watch, much like one puts together a play list of songs on their MP3 players. By assembling their own evening of ballet, guests have the opportunity to choose from three separate studios throughout the initial 90 minutes of the evening’s events, with each individual performance lasting approximately ten minutes, featuring pieces choreographed by company members Kelsey Bartman, Robert Poe, Christopher Stuart, and Andrea Vierra. After making the “rounds” of these more intimate performances, all audience members will come together to watch the grand finale, a collection of ballets from renowned choreographers Salvatore Aiello, James Canfield, Nashville Ballet’s Artistic Director Paul Vasterling, and NYCB Choreographic Fellowship recipient Kimberly Ratcliffe.

Throughout this evening of dance, Nashville Ballet will celebrate all forms of artistic expression. Two of Nashville Ballet’s performances, Table for Four and Be There, will feature live music by local musicians Benita Hill and Cody Sluder, respectively. Vasterling’s preview of Macbeth, will showcase new music from Michael Kurek and include musicians from the Blair School of Music. Original artwork by Nashville artists Jason Facio, David Knudston, Shana Kohnstamm, Mandy Lawson, and Heather Thorne, will dress the walls of the Nashville Ballet Martin Center for Dance, further emphasizing the bonds between music, dance, and visual art and the value of creative expression.
