Add Review/Comment
The Gallatin Arts Council will host an evening of music at the downtown Gallatin Public Library on Friday night, May 22, 2009, to honor James Story. The event is part of the Arts Link Series, which is free to the public, and all are invited to stop by. Featured singers will include Vera Warrick, Ben Troxler, Butch Moore and friends, Dorothy Humphrey, Mary Tomkins, Steve Oldham, Mark Birdsong, and others. The program will include a brief intermission, and we encourage you to come say hello to James and thank him for his contributions to the arts in Gallatin.
A man of many talents, James Story began his career in Gallatin as the band director at Gallatin High School in the 1980’s. That job lead to his working with Jerry Doyle Guthrie in her renowned musicals. He then moved on to directing the award winning glee clubs and choral programs at GHS, and after several years there, he moved to a position at Volunteer State Community College. There he chaired departments, created stellar vocal productions, musical theatre and seasonal shows. All the while James served as Director of Music at the First Methodist Church downtown. These accomplishments are but a few of his contributions to the arts in our community, and we want to say, “Thank you, good friend, for a job well done.”
