Robert Webb Fry II, Sr. Lecturer of Music History and Literature at Vanderbilt University, addresses the ways in which American composers, songwriters, and musicians have captured American identity and experiences through sonic snapshots of the American landscape. Discussing musical examples from American art, vernacular, and popular traditions, Fry will examine the importance of place in the soundscape of America.
