How do plays work? What functions does my character serve in the telling this story? How do I quickly discover "actable" actions in a cold reading audition?

In addition to creating emotionally connected performances, actors must understand and use the one vehicle the entire ensemble shares in common -- the script. Our new Script Analysis Class is an active, performance based class designed to guide the actor toward the discovery of story and action in the playwright's work. Emphasizing basic climactic play structure, students learn basic terminology used to analyze scene texts, forms and conventions of climactic play structure, and how to make active choices onstage that ultimately serve the story and how it is being told. This class will be great preparation for anyone planning on auditioning and performing as well as aspiring directors and playwrights. It's taught by Ross Bolen, MFA.

Note: There will not be class on July 6.
