Stone Door Hike
July 3, 2009
Join Ranger Jacob at Stone Door Ranger Station to learn about the Cumberland Plateau and the people who lived there. This is an easy 2-mile hike.
The Stone Door Ranger Station is within the Savage Gulf area and is accessible off State Highway 56 near Beersheba Springs. It is named for the Great Stone Door, a 150-foot deep crevice at the crest of the Plateau. It is the western access for the Savage Gulf-Stone Door trails network. Click here for a map of South Cumberland State Park or here for area trails.

"I can't wait to go!!!"
Comment posted by: James Henry Suter IV from nashville, tn, Aug 17, 2009
I recently found out how deeply my family was involved with the settlement and the area. I live in Nashville now, and I can't wait to get to the area to see where my ancestors have tread.
