The Nashville Association of Art Dealers (NAAD) presents a new opprotunity for art lovers and patrons to explore Nashville’s diverse and growing art scene. "Art After Hours" - Nashville’s first monthly, city-wide art event - seeks to elevate awareness and support for the visual arts in Nashville. On the first Thursday of each month participating galleries will remain open late from 5:00pm to 8:00pm, inviting the public to come and enjoy art after work. Click here for a NAAD gallery map.
The July Art After Hours will be extended until 8:00pm and will feature the following: Cumberland Gallery (Green Hills) debuts northwestern painters Jim Phalen, Patrick LoCicero, and Valerie Stuart. Celebrating the holiday, The Heavenly Dog will be selling hot dogs at an outside hotdog cart and Cumberland will provide drinks inside; Finer Things Gallery (near Fairgrounds) will feature unique imaginative ceramic figures by innovative artist Lisa Farris; Gallery One (Belle Meade Galleria) presents "Summer Soup" introducing new gallery artists and featuring concrete and steel sculptures of Olympia, Washington artist Mike Moran, as well as new mixed media abstract works by gallery favorite Suzy Scarborough; LeQuire Gallery (near Sylvan Park) previews Alan LeQuire's newest colossal sculpture Dream Forest, and cuts the red ribbon on their first gallery expansion since the art gallery's opening; Local Color (on Broadway) will premiere a "Magical Menagerie" of new whimsical works by Ron York; Midtown Gallery (on Broadway) will display eclectic artist Barbara Coon's "Keys To The City," new representations of Gibson and Fender guitars; The Arts Company (downtown Nashville) will present "The Art of Flags," featuring original artist flags by Brother Mel, Jorge Arrieta, Bob McGill, Norris Hall, and Myles Maillie, commissioned by the gallery for the festive holiday, with some artists attending the reception; Zeitgeist (Hillsboro Village) continues its discussion series Oblique Strategies with Tennessee Repertory Theatre's Producing Artistic Director Rene Copeland. In addition, the gallery will be exhibiting new works by painter Jimmy Abegg, sculptor Buddy Jackson, and photographer Frank Ockenfelds.
NAAD is a membership organization of respected and established art dealers from throughout Nashville. Its 36 members and associate members are dedicated to promoting and maintaining the highest degree of professionalism in business conduct, and collectively aim to increase support for the visual arts in Nashville.
