Tennessee Shakespeare Festival Presents A Midsummer Night's Dream

    Tennessee Shakespeare Festival

    June 26-July 5, 2009

    Add Review/Comment

The Tennessee Shakespeare Festival's performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream will be held in Bell Buckle, Tennessee on June 26, 27, & 28 and July 2, 3, & 5. There will be tent seating as well as grounds seating for those preferring to bring a blanket. The director has chosen to set the play in the Deep South of the 1930’s.

Due to the enormous popularity (and limited run) of last summer's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, we will open the 2009 season with a revival of that production, with most of the original actors reprising their roles. This production will run for six performances.

The Tennessee Shakespeare Festival continues its highly successful and touted production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" this weekend in Bell Buckle, Tennessee. All reports are that this is one of the best productions of "Midsummer" ever seen in the south, with a professional cast from all over the country. This highly accessible production set in the Deep South in the 1930's with ghosts from the Civil War era appearing throughout has been hailed even by those who have never experienced Shakespeare before as "The funniest play I have ever seen!" If you are near, you should take a day to visit historic Bell Buckle, have a picnic on the grounds and enjoy Shakespeare under the stars. You won't regret it, I assure you! Collapse

Actor/Director Lane Davies was the original Mason (of "Santa Barbara"), and was my favorite actor in the series.
