Scarlett and Rhett Go Wilde! Ted Swindley's adaption of Oscar Wilde's comic masterpiece will be performed in an elaborate, antebellum costumed stage reading by members of the Nashville Shakespeare Festival in three performances, September 10, 11 and 12 at Christ Church Cathedral. Swindley, internationally renowned writer/director, has adapted Wilde's play, originally set in Victorian England, and transplanted it into the Old South. "Certainly the society and mores of the time in the South prior to the Civil War seemed a perfect match with Mr. Wilde's play," Swindley says. Delectable Southern refreshments will be available. This production is part of the Sacred Space for the City Arts Series, sponsored by Friends of the Cathedral. It takes place in Cheek Hall at Christ Church Cathedral.
