The Nashville Association of Art Dealers (NAAD) presents a new opprotunity for art lovers and patrons to explore Nashville’s diverse and growing art scene. "Art After Hours" - Nashville’s first monthly, city-wide art event - seeks to elevate awareness and support for the visual arts in Nashville. On the first Thursday of each month participating galleries invite the public to come and enjoy art after work. Click here for a NAAD gallery map.

The August Art After Hours will feature the following: Gallery One in Belle Meade is introducing the work of Santa Fe sculptor Sally Hepler. Her graceful modernist abstract sculptures are a puzzling maze of curving bands of light in impressive bronze and stainless steel. Midtown Gallery on Broadway features vibrant colorful landscape and figurative paintings by Memphis artist Sheryl Hibbs. Zeitgeist in Hillsboro Village continues its discussion series Oblique Strategies with Director of Vanderbilt Center for Integrative Health, Dr. Roy Elam. The Arts Company, downtown, previews its 12th annual Avant-Garage Sale Expo and the Collectors Exchange featuring treasures from gallery archives and private collections, including artwork, art books, and vintage furniture. Cumberland Gallery, in Green Hills, presents Going Green-Ways featuring special works by gallery artists that are either constructed from recycled materials or reflect on recycling, conservation, and the green movement. A special speaker from the Tennessee Parks and Greenways Foundation will discuss environmental awareness. LeQuire Gallery near Sylvan Park has nearly doubled its space in its first expansion since its opening in 2003. Gallery artists featured in the new space will be on hand to sign/inscribe special one-of-a-kind items at affordable prices. In addition, the gallery will be offering Las Paletas popsicles as a special summer “beat the heat” treat. Local Color on Broadway will continue its “Magical Menagerie” of whimsical works by Ron York. The artist will be in attendance and speaking about his newest paintings.

Other galleries participating in Art After Hours August include: Bennett Galleries, Estel Gallery, HA Gallery at Hanging Around, Hiram Van Gordon Memorial Gallery at Tennessee State University, The Parthenon, Richland Fine Art, Rymer Gallery, and Tinney Contemporary. Frist Center for the Visual Arts has its exhibitions with a fee to non-members. Frist Center participates in Art After Hours with free music in the lobby.

NAAD is a membership organization of respected and established art dealers from throughout Nashville. Its 36 members and associate members are dedicated to promoting and maintaining the highest degree of professionalism in business conduct, and collectively aim to increase support for the visual arts in Nashville.
