Add Review/Comment
The Department of Art at Tennessee State University is pleased to host the work of Timothy Portlock through September 30. The Hiram Van Gordon Memorial Gallery will contain large-scale digital prints from his Ghost Cities series. Mr. Portlock makes his work out of the historical context, blending interests in architecture, gaming and geography as informed by memory and history. The Ghost Cities series examines urban decay the volume of abandoned buildings in a post-industrial city.
Timothy Portlock is a professor at Hunter College in New York and makes his work based out of Philadelphia. He is one of the country's most inventive artists working today in cross-disciplinary mediums. He creates complex urban environments with programs such Auto Cad and Final Cut Pro. The works give viewers an ominous outlook, hovering just over the abandoned city blocks.
Reception and Artist Talk: Thursday, September 10, reception begins at 4:00pm with artist talk to follow at 6:00pm.
