Midtown Gallery on Broadway premieres Susan Graves’ “Naked Chefs,” a series of pottery sculptures of male and female chefs with bare backsides peeping out from their aprons! Zeitgeist in Hillsboro Village continues its discussion series Oblique Strategies with Nashville songwriters Billy Kemp and Jeni Hankins. The Arts Company, downtown, has scheduled a Salon Preview of a series of new paintings by Bill Johnson and photographs of San Miguel by Suzanne Elmer at 6:00 pm. Cumberland Gallery, in Green Hills, features local artists in “What Were You Thinking,” a casual conversation about art with photographer Susan Bryant, collage artist Billy Renkl, sculptor Johan Hagaman, printmaker Mark Hosford, wall constructionist Carrie McGee, ceramicist Ann Wells, and painters Marilyn Murphy, Kit Reuther, Barry Buxkamper, and Andrew Saftel. Finer Things Gallery, near the Fairgrounds, begins a series of art discussions launching with Bell Buckle artist Sherri Warner Hunter discussing her recently completed large-scale work for the Governor’s Mansion and other current projects. Gallery One in Belle Meade presents “Differences in Common,” a dual exhibit featuring artists David Douglas and Tracey Lane. Douglas’ works on panel meld black-and-white photography with painterly approaches. Lane’s mixed media paintings are a celebration of the mystery of nature.
