Add Review/Comment
A concert featuring some of Nashville's most beloved and talented artists as they share cultural traditions that have their roots in the Southern United States. Offering a rare performance in Nashville, the Aubrey Ghent Band will perform their highly spirited and engaging sacred steel gospel and blues. Widely recognized as a masterful lap steel guitarist, Aubrey Ghent is credited with the birth of the "Sacred Steel Tradition", which has become one of our country's greatest African-American gospel roots traditions.
Joining Aubrey Ghent and his band will be Appalachian a-cappella folk singer and musician Carol Ponder, who is highly regarded as a teaching and performing artist with a mission to preserve and extend the Southern Mountain and Folk traditions. Rounding out the evening of sacred steel gospel and Appalachian ballads accompanied with spoons, autoharp and guitar will be The Bosch Institute, an energetic collaboration between musician/composer Daniel Arite and poet/orator Thandiwe Shiphrah. This creative duo is known for dynamic oratory from the African American tradition, original music drawn from jazz, bluegrass, and classical works, and stirring poetry that celebrates life and the creative process.
