39th Annual TACA Tennessee Craft Fair: Donation Site for Flood Victims
May 7-May 9, 2010
| Read Reviews/Comments
The TACA Tennessee Craft Fair is the state’s premier outdoor showcase for Tennessee fine crafts. Celebrating its 39th anniversary in 2010, this popular event attracts over 45,000 people annually to view the works of over 170 of the finest craftspeople from across the state of Tennessee.
A signature event in Nashville during the first weekend in May, the TACA Tennessee Craft Fair offers shoppers the opportunity to purchase a wide variety of uniquely handcrafted work, meet and talk with the artists, enjoy a diverse food court, take in special exhibits and demonstrations and create their own works of art.
New to the Fair, TACA has opened up the application process to include all photography with no distinction between the traditional wet-print processing and the digital process of creating photos. While digital and traditional process are now accepted under the Photography medium, all artists in all mediums must adhere to the restrictions set forth by TACA and all work created in a commercial setting or lab is strictly prohibited.
Marquee Demonstrator: Lost Boys Foundation of Nashville
The Lost Boys Foundation has been a staple of Nashville’s cultural scene since it’s inception in 2004. The brainchild of photographer Jack Spencer, the group was created to reunify the roughly 150 young men who survived the civil war in southern Sudan and are now living in Nashville. With the recent tragic death of Malith Wiek, a member of Lost Boys, the foundation is working harder now more than ever to raise further understanding about the plight of this group.
Donation Site Information for Flood Victims:
The TACA Tennessee Craft Fair has partnered with The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee via NowPlayingNashville.com to serve as a collection site for donations to benefit those residents of Middle Tennessee affected by the recent flooding. Craft fair visitors can donate with cash, check or credit card.
Additionally, Second Harvest Food Bank will have drop boxes onsite for donations of canned goods and non-perishable items for flood victims and the hungry in Nashville. Second Harvest is in most need of the following items: peanut butter, canned fruit and canned meat.
