Enjoy an interview with Mary Martin.

Toronto native Mary Martin has had a long, distinguished career in the music business. Beginning in the early 1960s, Martin was executive assistant to Albert Grossman, manager for Bob Dylan and Peter, Paul and Mary. She went on to become an artist manager (Leonard Cohen, Van Morrison, Rodney Crowell, Vince Gill); A&R executive for Warner Bros. (signing Emmylou Harris, Leon Redbone, Commander Cody, and the Marshall Tucker Band); RCA Nashville (Gill, Clint Black, Paul Overstreet, Aaron Tippin, and Lorrie Morgan); Asylum; and Mercury Records (co-producing the Grammy-winning Hank Williams tribute, Timeless). She introduced Bob Dylan to the musicians who would become The Band, and she got Leonard Cohen’s songs, including “Suzanne,” to Judy Collins. This interview will be illustrated with photos, recordings, and film footage from the museum’s archive and elsewhere. Free and open to the public. The Louise Scruggs Memorial Forum, made possible by the Gibson Foundation, is presented annually to honor a music industry leader who continues the legacy of pioneer Louise Scruggs.
