Presented by: Frank Wcislo, Dean of The Commons and Associate Professor of History; Konstantin Kustanovich, Associate Professor of Slavic Languages and Literature, Germanic & Slavic Languages Department. An in-depth look at the rise and fall of Communism, this film gives an historical overview along with its examinations of the crumbling of the Berlin Wall and the independence movements in Poland, Lithuania, and Russia. 80 minutes. DVD.
PLEASE NOTE: This film will be screened at 6:45pm in The Commons Multipurpose Room 237.
Admission is FREE and open to the public. Presenters will provide an introduction and facilitate post-screening discussion for each film. International Lens, a film series with a global perspective, promotes dialogue among Vanderbilt’s diverse community of students, faculty, and staff. International Lens transcends geographic, ethnic, religious, linguistic, and political boundaries by facilitating conversation and greater cross-culturalunderstanding through cinema. This series is a partnership among the Office ofthe Dean of Students and academic departments, centers, and programs.
